Volunteers are a vibrant part of our community, whether they join us in New York City, the Washington, DC Metro area, or remotely. We have a few different structured ways in which you can participate as an individual or as a group. We are always eager to learn from potential volunteers and find ways for them to be more integrated into our work.

Mock Interviews: Before our students begin their formal interview process with restaurants, catering companies, and other culinary institutions, we conduct mock interviews to help them prepare. Mock interviews help our students work through their jitters and refine their responses. We welcome volunteers to serve as interviewers and provide vital feedback.

This is a volunteer opportunity for a group of up to 15 people.

Education and Financial Literacy: We love when volunteers are excited to bring their knowledge and expertise into our classroom, whether it is teaching one of our curricular ESL classes or developing a class on financial literacy. We have even had individual volunteers who create lasting mentorship and educational relationships with our students, staying in touch over time.

This is a volunteer opportunity for individuals or groups of up to 15 people.

Deep Cleaning and Maintenance: We welcome volunteers to help us conduct periodic deep-cleans, gardening projects, and other maintenance. These projects run on the motto “Many hands make light work!”

This is a volunteer opportunity for groups large and small.

One-Off Projects: Throughout the year, there are moments when a groups of volunteers can help us with special initiatives. For example, we once hosted 100 volunteers to help us assemble holiday gift boxes.

These volunteer opportunities happen periodically. They can be for small or large groups of volunteers.
