Linda Geen
Board Member
Linda currently volunteers with Emma’s Torch DC. She developed and facilitates the Emma’s Torch DC Culinary English lessons, a component of its four week classroom training program. Linda is an avid home cook who took many classes and served as an assistant at DC’s L’Academie de Cuisine cooking school. A former instructional designer, facilitator and training manager with a federal government agency and a national association, Linda is thrilled to merge these skills in her work with Emma’s Torch.
Linda spent years honing her leadership, event management and fundraising skills as a volunteer board member for several DC community organizations including school parent-teacher associations and the Capitol City Little League. As a member of these boards, Linda planned and managed fundraising events, recruited and supervised volunteers and developed and executed communication strategies. Linda also serves as a member of the board of the Geen Family Foundation.
Linda earned her BA in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania and her MA in Education from The George Washington University. She is a native Washingtonian and lives in DC’s Capitol Hill neighborhood with her husband.
