Emma's Torch Shabbat Dinner

  • Emma's Torch at Home/Made 293 Van Brunt Street Brooklyn, NY, 11231 United States (map)

Shabbat brings together loved ones and strangers to form strong communities. The perfect Shabbat atmosphere includes a family style meal with shared stories and plenty of wine. During dinner at Emma’s Torch at Home/Made, you’ll hear the stories of refugees from all over the world and taste dishes they’ve brought from their home countries. Storytelling has played an important role in Jewish history, and we bring a cross-cultural perspective to that tradition.

Emma’s Torch is a culinary training program for refugees, asylees, and survivors of human trafficking. Your Shabbat meal will be prepared by our students, under the direction of our stellar head chef. The menu will reflect our students’ countries of origin, so keep an eye out for tasty dishes from Afghanistan, Mexico, and everything in between!
